Sunday 27th June - continued

Meeting was very well attended, it being necessary to bring out many more chairs to accommodate the many old scholars to whom Meeting was a very important part of Reunion weekends. After Meeting old scholars, friends and family, returned to Whinstone View for lunch.

Sunday lunchtime weather was just right - warm and sunny and just right for sitting outside.

Have very nice it was to see Alice and John Meager again. They had travelled up from Worcestershire especially for the Reunion.

It was 2001 when we saw them last, lets hope they come back again very soon.

The AGM - attended by around eighty AOSA members and friends - commenced with a minutes silence for Members who had died in the previous year.

Robert Campbell - our President 2004-05 - was then invited to deliver his Presidential Address. He took this opportunity to tell the full, and precise story, of Ayton School's closure - the sad but inescapable events which led to the 1997 closure.

Normal AGM business followed smoothly and the Meeting closed at 4:00 pm.

Jenny Summerfield (Smith) - Reunion Organiser

Jenny Summerfield (Smith) was AOSA Organiser for this year's Reunion. She took over from Tessa Snowdon (Greenwell) after last year and made a great success of the task. Arrangements for a Reunion needs to start after the end of the last; so Jenny has been working very hard for many months on a myriad of detail, telephone calls and paperwork.

Jen, on behalf of all who enjoyed a very successful 2004 Reunion, many, many thanks for a job very well done .

Our final photo is of Robert and Jane Campbell, pictured after the AGM and relaxing after it was all over.

Your Presidential Address Robert was, without doubt, one of the most important we have heard, now to be read by many old scholars through the Ayton Old Scholars' Website.

We wish you a smooth and enjoyable Presidential Year.

The 2005 Reunion will be held over the last weekend of June, Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th
