Although this is one of the most photographed and painted scenes in Great Ayton, and probably North Yorkshire as well, it is such a beautiful spot and worthy of a place in these pages.

October 2000 - this view shows the developed School site from Station Road - with the Mill (replacement) red-roofed  buildings on the left, with Rawdon House in the background.

Contrast the same view - from the same spot taken at the same time of year, but before any demolition and rebuild got underway.

This is for those for whom nostalgia is still strong (long may it always be so)
