This year has gone according to plan - the usual two meetings, one in October and one in March and both were attended by all who were not confined to bed! Organising the Reunion and producing the Annual Magazine are the main priorities for the Committee. Keeping in touch is now much easier because everyone has e-mail and can be contacted at the press of a button, so that form of communication has made things so much easier. This year, as you will hear from The Editor, has been somewhat fraught as James has increased his family and Dick Dennis has taken to his bed - not by choice I can assure you! However, the magazine arrived on our doorsteps complete, interesting, and on time, a credit to cooperation and ingenuity. Yesterday the General Committee Meeting was amazingly disrupted by a huge thunderstorm and torrential rain. The Committee once again were able to rise to the occasion, decided that the Marquee would not be fit for the rest of the day, and arranged for the evening meal to be served in Whinstones function room. It was a more intimate event as the room was not quite big enough for all. However it worked out well and everyone had a good meal and a very pleasant evening, with an incredible raffle. I think that this goes to show that your committee is working hard and serving you, The Association, well, and for my part it’s a good team of which to be a member. Jill Wheeler - June 2007. |
