Starting as an idea of Peter Moore Robinson and Eddy Thompson, approximately 29 old scholars, from consecutive yearsat school in the late forties, together with some of their partners, met for lunch at the Dog and Gun in Potto on reunion Saturday, to celebrate their 70 th birthdays. It was a huge success, the venue was perfect, the food excellent, the staff at the pub helpful and welcoming, and we had a room all to ourselves, which was just as well given the level of noise we generated. To top it all there was a celebratory cake cut for us by Annie White (McCune) whose own special birthday had been earlier in the week. (Piccies may be viewed on Page 2 of our website's Summer Reunion Photo Report.)
It was great to see all the regulars (and some of the irregulars) again and to welcome Malcolm Ellis, Martin Lloyd, Tony Gibson and Charlie Corner to the lunch. They had not met nor attended reunions since they left school.
Last Christmas, Peter wrote to some 50 of his contemporaries, with varying degrees of success, suggesting that with 70 th birthdays impending, they meet at the summer reunion in June 06 to celebrate. Once the numbers were known, Eddy sent out to everyone a most comprehensive menu list. Pam, who lives in Potto, and whose first husband was the late John Thompson, suggested the venue to Peter and Eddy and acted as their local coordinator. The three of them did an amazing job and all present had a really wonderful time.
Please Peter may we have a rematch before 2016?
