I am really not sure what I am supposed to be reporting on. It is one thing to compile an agenda and write up the Minutes in the peace and quiet of my own home - and even send them out by e-mail. But talk about it!! Well that is something else. The business of the committee has been carried out with the usual care and concern for the Association, fellow Old Scholars giving their time to ensure that, once again, we have a Reunion. Each and everyone of us is here because the Spirit of Ayton School has called us back - and long may it last. When I was asked to be Secretary, my first reaction was to say NO and NO again. Then I recalled how often I, and my husband Kenneth, had been ‘back’ to Old Scholars and felt that it would be churlish to refuse to help. So here I am wondering what to report on!! May I just say here my gratitude to the lovely Margaret Carnegie - my capable predecessor, who, while she was in office, had to contend with so many changes. These she took in her organized stride, leaving the records in splendid order. Computerized and firmly in the 21st century: thank you Margaret. Jill Wheeler (Rhodes 1949-56) |
