Having written the agenda for the General Committee Meeting my thoughts turned to "what was I going to say in my Secretary's Report?” I have read through the minutes of the Executive Committee's Meetings and the only thing that seems to be noted time and time again is discussion about trying to spend money wisely so that we don't have to draw extra funding from the O S. bank accounts, and that nearly all reports from William, Gill and Dick show that everything is under control and no real problems have been recorded. Now isn’t that good? The Association is running on well oiled wheels! But may I remind you all that this can so easily stop; it depends heavily upon a great deal of hard work from a handful of members and a lot of support from O.S. in general. When I talk to other non-Ayton friends there is no one who has such a contact with old school friends as I have, and I feel a great deal of this is due to the Association and our annual meetings; long may this continue for us all.

On a more personal note may I say that I have enjoyed - yes, enjoyed being secretary of the Association and hope that in the future if I can help in anyway the Committee will feel free to phone me. I am very pleased to be handing over to Jill Wheeler (Rhodes) - subject to this meeting's approval. I remember her first day at school when as a very important 2nd former - or so I thought, I was telling Jill about various rules and she kept saying "Oh! I know that, my sister told me." It is now many years on and although our lives have never really crossed, because of meeting up at Reunions we have always kept in touch. Long may it continue be so with Jill and many other friends.
