I was at ayton during the 1938-39 school year.
Evelyn taught us scripture and I was impressed how she related the teachings of St. PAul to current social problems.
This is a quote from my diary at the time:(translated from German)
"Great Ayton, Thursday, 16. March 1939.
This morning, during scripture, we had a most interesting discussion about stealing, paying taxes, the role of schools, etc. Miss Nicholson, who teaches us scripture, is a very fine woman."
On another entry I commented on a speech by Miss Nicholson during one of our regular meetings about a conference she had attended where it had been sugested to start a youth movement by students who attended different Friends schoold.
